*Shrill sounds of an alarm pierced the quiet and still dark room, drawing a groan from under the covers that a figure was so contently wrapped under. The ragged and lumpy blankets moved and protested heavily, sagging in defeat when an arm reached out and silenced the alarm. Sitting up, the half toned haired male yawned and stretched, pouting at the time.*

*He hated waking up this early for his shitty job in this crummy city barely making enough to live without having to look for an owner. That was one thing he was never going to do. His ears twitched and he shook his head as he got up from the bed and set to getting ready for work. It was some factory job that employed his kind, with hardly any pay though.*

*Grumbling softly, he pulled his clothes on and shoes on at the door before heading out, ruffling his hair and stroking the fur down on his tail before heading out. He found it hard to find work anywhere else, what with his full breed status and having come from a village of free hybrids of wild animals. People feared they could go feral at any minute, but it was untrue. His kind was treated harsher because of this and had stricter laws in place. He tugged at the collar around his neck, red tag to shoe his status and danger if he went feral.*

*When he got to work, he clocked in and pulled on the protective gear for work and started his shift. It was a recycling plant and he worked in the sorting area, sorting out the different types of containers and getting the mess all over him. He had dreams and aspirations, but he never thought he would end up like this, stuck in this life and unable to go back home. His village was assimilated into the city and left abandoned. At least he had friends at work that weren't afraid of him.*

Hey, Hanbin, we still going for drinks?

*Laughing at his friends words, he shook his head and smiled. The poor bird hybrid got scared after seeing his collar. He should have expected it, Petroica rodinogaster was usually a flighty type of hybrid.*

*Jiwon chuckled at Bae's remark before unsettled back against the elder, sighing as the water soothed his limbs and drained the soreness out of his body. He tilted his head back to look at Bae, his ears flicking gently.*

I should be the one saying that. Really, my heats can get intense. That one was bad, but sometimes they're not as desperate. When they are easier, they're longer.

*He said with a groan, remembering when he had one last for the whole 17 days. It was the worst. He didn't like the whole situation to begin with, but at least it was only for every few months.*

It will be a while before my next one, so if you go into a rut again and I'm not in heat, I'll do my best to help you.

*Bae smiled softly as he tilted his head down to place a soft loving kiss on his mate's lips. He grabbed a washrag and gently started to clean the younger mate as they soaked.*

*He said with a soft laugh as he let Bae wash his hair. His purrs rumbled deep in his chest as he relaxed against his mate. He knew there were places outside of the city they could go and hide, to live in peace with others of their kind. It would be rough on him, he was built for cold climates. He knew Bae would thrive there easily, so he would take his chances there. Far north was their safest bet. They sat in a comfortable silence, but they both knew what subject was eating at them now that things were getting worse.*

I wonder what it's like far north... Think there are still villages up there with hybrids living together there?

*He smiled happily at his mate placing a soft kiss on jiwon's head after he rinsed his hair. He sighed not wanting to think about it as he started to wash himself.*

There are but they Aren't easy to get to. They can't be or the human's will just raid them again. I don't really want to think about all of this right now happy moments are few in my life.

*he paused as he quickly washed his hair.*

But we need to both pack go bags I have a feeling time is almost up here.

*Jiwon nodded and hummed in agreement, things were changing. He didn't know if he wanted to come back if things were better, there would still be that underlying hate and prejudice against their kind.*

What about our friends? Hanbin could be ready easily, but what about Chae, Dae, and Ri?

*That would be the last question he had on the subject. He wasn't worried about much else, they could be prepared easily for this. Jiwon would need a lot more winter type and heavy clothes, but north seemed to be the place to go.*

Hanbin should come with us, he is a hybrid too.

Chae, Dae and Ri are human they can't come with us.

*It hurt Bae to say it out loud but he knew it would be tricky enough getting himself into the safe areas with his papers and human appearance. He closed his eye for a moment before continuing on.*

Don't worry about them though they will be okay Chae is smart, tough and will protect her boys. Hanbin is that the hybrid that came to the bar with you? If he can get ready fast and you trust him not to rat us out he can come.

*he opened his eyes as he looked down at his mate a small smile on his face.*

I know what you mean with them. Hanbin had been my best friend since I've been here and I know he wouldn't turn against us. He can be ready and leave with us with no qualms.

*Jiwon smiled softly as he turned to Bae and settled in his lap, nuzzling up to him with a soft purr. He wanted nothing more than to be with Bae and be happy. Maybe one day have a family. Coming back to this city wasn't an option for him once he could taste freedom again.*

Don't be afraid of me going feral, I've kept my head this long in the city, when I'm out of here, I will be so much better.

*Jiwon did have a few close calls, but his friend Hanbin was there to pull him back. It was scary, feeling that way, so his friend kept him sane and safe.*

Anyway, breakfast should be here soon, and we have a note to read while we eat in the roof top.

*Bae tilted his head going feral had not been a thought on his mind, he knew it was possible for both of them.*

*He wrapped his arms around his mate playing a soft kiss on his lips. He smiled softly as he kiss broke reaching beside the tub to grab a big fluffy towel.*

Then we should get out and get dressed, don't want to give the neighbors a free peak.

*Jiwon grinned and got up from the water, his limbs feeling better now that he had soaked in the water. He accepted the towel and started to dry off.*

I like being naked, but in some situations, clothes are needed.

*He laughed softly as he moved to hand the towel over to Bae, offering a hand to the elder to help him out of the water.*

I only like clothes when I'm cold. I'll bundle up into everything I can get my hands on in the winter time.

*He chuckled as he remembered last winter, being so bundled he could barely move at work.*

*Bae watched his mate dry off before taking the offered hand he carefully got up out of the water. He bent down pulling the plug before taking the towel, quickly drying himself off.*

I sleep naked in the winter it's my kinds main mating season so my body heats up quickly.

*He threw the wet towel into their dirty clothes playfully smacking his mates bare ass as he went into their room to get dressed. Knowing their food would be there in any moment he pulled on a pair of shorts.*

*Jiwon gave a soft squeak when Bae smacked his ass. If he hadn't just gotten over his heat, the action would have turned him on. He smiled and went into the room, pulling on only a pair of shorts as well. He went up behind Bae and wrapped his arms around the elder.*

Good, you can be my personal body heater. I'll be cold as hell. My kind isn't used to the cold.

*The door bell went off, alerting them of their food, so he untangled himself before he went to the door. Thanking the delivery person and paying for the food and leaving a good tip before he brought the food in.*

Shall we head up to the roof then? Food is still hot.

*Bae chuckled leaning back against his mate a bit. He sighed happily as his mate went out to get their food. He patted his pockets making sure he had what he needed before heading out himself. He grabbed a few bottles of water for them as Jiwon paid. Nodding he opened the door grabbing the note before leading the way to the roof.*

*Jiwon followed Bae to the roof and smiled as he stepped out to the roof top. There were some chairs out there, so he went over to one and sat down, laying out on the lounging chair with a sigh of content as he stretched.*

It's nice out here. This sun will do us both some good, especially after all that.

*He said with a laugh, knowing that the elder would be missing the sun just about as much as he would. Pulling out their food, he started to eat with the chopsticks he brought, handing Bae his.*

Alright, so how long is this list? I bet there's some funny stuff in there, we have some humorous neighbors.

*Bae took a deep breath once he stepped out onto the roof, closing his eyes for a moment before joining his mate. He handed the younger a bottle of water as he sat down before taking his food.*

Oh I'd almost forgot about the note, it's good to be in the sun again!

*Bae smiled sitting his food to the side for a moment as he skimmed the note chuckling at some of them.*

There's several about times you got laid, miss kwon from next door says listening to us was better then watching porn, old bitch from across the hall says we should be ashamed a human should not lay with a hybrid.

*Bae rolled his eyes picking up his food he new neither could mention what he was in a public place.*

*Jiwon laughed out loud at what some of the tenants said until it came to the nasty woman that lived across from them. He shook his head and rolled his eyes before he continued to eat his food.*

Whatever. I can't wait to hear what they'll say when you have to do that again. At least it won't be for as long.

*He mused as he continued to eat. His ears and tail dried on their own as he sat in the sun, purring contently as he looked up to the elder.*

Since I just had my heat, the vet might want to give me a check up to see if I need to up the dosage of my suppressants. I have to stop taking the ones I have until I get to the doctor.

I'm sure a few will offer to join us or pay to watch.

*Bae joked as he started to eat his own food relaxing in the sun with his mate. He nodded knowing they would make plans later for check ups for his mate. He shifted so his leg was touching jiwon's smiling at him.*

They might want to up whatever kind of birth control you take as well.

Yeah, I'll talk to the doc about that. I hope whatever strength they give me will last for a while, I'll have to get extra in case of an emergency.

*He mused before he finished his food and moved from his seat to climb into Bae's lap. He nuzzled against the elder and sighed contently, feeling safe with his mate.*

Would you nap with me in the sun? I like your cuddles and we should rest up from all of that.

*He purred softly as he nuzzled up to Bae more, the sun warming them and making him all the more sleepy. He pressed a kiss to Bae's chest before he places his head there and closed his eyes.*

*Bae nodded finishing his food right before jiwon climbed into his lap. He wrapped his arms around the boy smiling at the kiss to his chest. Once his mate settled down Bae dropped a kiss on the top of his head carefully laying back in the chair so they both would be comfortable.*

Rest my love, you've had a very tiring week.

*Bae said softly as he held the boy close to him letting his own eyes close. He knew it wasn't fair that his new mate had to up his birth control instead of going off it like he would if he had mated with someone else. But he also knew it was for The best right now he and jiwon could not risk having children.*

*Jiwon smiled and closed his eyes, purring softly as he fell asleep in Bae's lap. Over the following days, they both rested and were back to work. When he had off, Jiwon contacted his friend and confused in him about what was happening in their worlds and their escape plans. Hanbin promised to be ready and kept Bae's true identity secret.*

*It had been the day of Jiwon's vet appointment and he couldn't be more relieved. He was feeling very weird after his heat, different from how he would normally after a heat. He played it off, not wanting to worry Bae as he continued on normally. He was sitting with the elder in the doctors office after the man drew his blood to check his hormone levels.*

So... I should probably tell you this before he comes back. I know he's going to ask questions, but I want you to know before I spring it on you by telling the doctor first... I've been feeling really weird after this heat. Like, really tired and wanting to do nothing but sleep and eat, and in the mornings, I've been feeling a little sick on my stomach. Nothing too bad, but... it's not normal.

*Over the days after jiwon's heat Bae had gotten into contact with his underground friends, needing to make sure jiwon and Hanbin could get out even if he couldn't himself. He was watching the growing tensions closely knowing they would have to run for it soon.

He had noticed differences in jiwon since his heat but he just shoved it away as his mind playing tricks on him. He was uncomfortable and looking around in he vet's office as he held jiwon's hand during the blood drawing process. Hearing his mate he turned his head focusing on the boy while clamping down on the deed growing in his stomach.*

Do you think you're pregnant?

*Bae asked keeping his voice steady even as he mentally begged both jiwon and the vet to say no when he came back to them.*

I... don't know. I don't have a clear answer, but... I'm not sure.

*Jiwon frowned and moved to hold Bae's hand. It was a tough situation, but he hoped it would be okay, hoped that it was just some kind of stomach bug. The vet returned to the room, a chart in hand.*

There was a higher presence of hormones in the sample, levels that indicated something going on with the body, so we check it out with another test to see if our assumptions were right.

*The doctor looked up to Jiwon and gave him a knowing look. Jiwon told the doctor how he had been feeling after his heat when a nurse came in and handed the doctor the paper work before leaving again. The doctor looked it over before placing the paperwork on the counter beside him.*

Unfortunately I can not prescribe you any more heat medication for a few months or any stronger birth control. The test results came back positive, you're pregnant, Jiwon. I suggest you contact the father and establish how things will follow after that.

*Jiwon was shocked, numb all of a sudden. This couldn't be happening, not now. It was too dangerous now. They would have to leave if they wanted the children to be safe.*

P-pregnant?

Yes. There are panphlets at the desk for you to read as well. For your species, you would have one to three cubs, and if you got pregnant by another species, some may be your genus while the others would be the father's genus.

*Bae froze listening to the doctors words his stomach dropping as the confirmation hit him. He was glad the vet believed he was human so he nodded giving his "pets" hand a tight squeeze.*

Thank you Doctor I will make sure he is well taken care of during this time and help him contact the father. Is there anything I should know as his owner?

*Bae looked at jiwon hiding his own impending break down as he stood up holding out a hand to his pet.*

Come on let's get you home, we can stop on the way and get you a treat if you wish pet.

Just keep plenty of red meat handy. The panphlets are for his genus, so the gestation period and all other information will be there. It's best to let things settle a bit before making another appointment.

*Jiwon just nodded and took Bae's hand, following the elder out. When they paid for the visit and left with the information in hand, the hybrid walked silently next to Bae, holding his hand. He was still shocked and had no idea how Bae even felt about this.*

*Passing a shop, he looked up and noticed something in the window. He stopped and held onto Bae's hand tighter as he saw a television report about another incident that left many wounded and a few dead from another riot at a closer part in the city. It hit home his badly they needed to live, it was right in front of his old apartment building.*

*Looking away from the television, Jiwon moved to hug Bae, seeking comfort from his mate. Everything was becoming too much, too dangerous and he didn't know what to do. Trying to shake those thoughts, Jiwon nuzzles up to Bae and heaved a sigh.*

Can we get some ice cream and go home? I really just want to be at home right now...
